“Big Money”

After an interesting conversation with a customer last week, I have been testing an exciting new screen.

I’m still working on smoothing out it’s performance, but the initial runs I’ve done have been extremely impressive.

Aside from big returns, one of the main benefits of this screen is that it generates the same number of qualified stocks per period. (3)

The parameters are;

Zacks Rank Average Broker Rating Percent Change in Price over 24 weeks = Top 10%. (Looking for the top 10% of performers out of the list above.)

Percent Change in Price over 12 weeks = Top 50%. (Looking for the top 50% of performers out of the list above.)

Percent Change in Price over 4 weeks = Top 3. (Looking for the 3 best price gainers out of the list above.)

The results;

Over the last 2 years, the average annual gross return is +165.80% with an average win ratio (winning periods) of 70%. (Rebalanced every 4 weeks.) And you only have to trade 3 stocks a month.

Admittedly, since this strategy looks for price momentum, it’s probably no surprise that it’s done better this year than last. But even so, last year’s (2002) average cumulative gross returns of over +75% are still something to brag about.

Of course, there’s even more to brag about this year, (2003) with its average cumulative gross returns of over +115%.

Like I said, this screen is still a work in progress, but incorporating this strategy as it is currently into your own stock picking routine, could dramatically super-charge your portfolio.

This week’s picks are; (as of Mon., 11/24/03)

BREL BioReliance Corp.
NOBL Noble International Investments, Inc.
(PTRY - Snapshot Report) The Pantry, Inc.
