The fund was incepted in June 1997 and is managed by Dreyfus Corporation. The fund seeks to match the performance of the Morgan Stanley Capital International Europe, Australasia, and Far East (Free) Index (EAFE). The fund invests in a representative sample of stocks of foreign companies included in the EAFE index, and in future whose performance is tied to certain countries included in the index. The fund' s portfolio investments are selected by a 'sampling' process based on country, market capitalization, industry weightings and other benchmark characteristics.
