Above-Trend Growth in the Second Half: Economic Outlook for Aug 27, 2009

Economic Outlook  for Aug 27, 2009
Above-Trend Growth in the Second Half

Following an anticipated sharp slowing in the pace of decline in GDP in the second quarter; the qualitative features of our forecast remain unchanged: a resumption of positive, and slightly above-trend growth in the second half of this year; a further increase in the unemployment rate, which then declines only slowly; a resulting substantial decline in inflation; and a near-zero funds rate through late 2011.
