Dear Subscriber,

Yesterday, the Fed voted to leave its target for the federal funds rate unchanged at 2%. The decision was widely expected, though stocks did give up some of their intraday gains following the announcement.

The language in the accompanying statement signaled a more hawkish stance on inflation and established the possibility of a 25-basis point hike at the Aug 5 meeting.
