The earnings calendar is packed this week with 831 companies releasing results. Included in this group are Dow components Chevron (CVX), Exxon Mobil (XOM), Proctor & Gamble (PG) and Verizon (VZ).

The Treasury Department will auction $121 billion in new debt. Demand at recent auctions has been very strong and could be again.

We will get our first look at Q3 GDP this week. Economists are projecting growth of 3.1%.
