Dear Subscribers,

Gladly investors stopped the early panic that ensued from the Feds move to raise the discount rate. To be honest, there is absolutely "no surprise" in this move as it was clearly signaled last week. Ben Bernanke has been the most transparent Fed chairman in recollection. This should be refreshing for investors, but far too many are used to the cloaked and ambiguous speeches of the Greenspan era. So after the discount rate info was fully digested and cooler heads prevailed the market spent most of the day at or above breakeven. At week's end we find ourselves in a heated struggle with the 50 day moving average at 10,400. That's 400 points better than our old struggle at 10,000. Be sure to keep that in perspective.
