May 06, 2013 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Altierre Corp., a provider of low power wireless technology, has appointed David Plumer as vice president of global sales.
Plumer brings more than 30 years experience in senior management, executive leadership and sales with global technology brands including IBM, where he led worldwide sales for the monitor and display business unit. He also held senior positions at American Power Conversion (APC) and was president of APC Asia Pacific region as well as Sr. V.P. of the global IT Business Unit. He was a member of the APC Executive team and was most recently Worldwide V.P. of Sales and Marketing for Sensys Networks.
"David's depth of experience in bringing solutions to large enterprises and his extensive knowledge of marketing valuable large enterprise display, sensor and energy solutions make him an ideal addition to our team," said Altierre Chairman and CEO Sunit Saxena.
"Now that we have proven solutions across multiple retail environments, from eSigns in hundreds of stores in our chain-wide deployment with Kohl's to several large E.Leclerc hypermarkets in France with 40,000 to 50,000 tags per store, we are perfectly positioned to broaden our customer base and very fortunate to add a high caliber executive like David to bring focus to our sales effort."
"I have had my eye out for the next home run in technology and am convinced that this is it," said Plumer. "Altierre has created a complete customer solution in the $12 trillion global retail industry that hasn't existed before. With a very thin infrastructure, this technology allows retailers to make use of big data at HQ, and take actionable decisions right to the shelf level. Based on this, we can help them quickly improve their stores' operations and deliver better service levels for their customers.
"In addition, since shoppers are now accustomed to relying on digital screens for information, this perfectly meshes with their increasing use of smart phones, web based information and desire for NFC (Near Field Communication) interaction, which enables shoppers to respond immediately to in-store promotions and personalized shopping offers, all while enjoying the convenience and security of a fast, accurate checkout experience, including the option of digital wallet payments. I am very excited by the tremendous growth opportunity that I foresee."
