May 13, 2013 (M2 Banking & Credit News via COMTEX) -- 13 May 2013 -- Georgia, USA-chartered Synovus Bank said that it has assumed from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp approximately USD 54m in total deposits of Capitol Bancorp Ltd's Sunrise Bank.affiliate.
The total includes all uninsured deposits, according to Synovus.
Sunrise Bank has offices in Valdosta, Atlanta, and Jeffersonville, Georgia. According to Synovus, all three branches of Sunrise Bank reopened on May 13 as temporary branches of the Synovus Bank divisions in the following Atlanta (Bank of North Georgia), Jeffersonville (CB&T of Middle Georgia), and Valdosta (First State Bank and Trust company) markets.
These locations will continue to serve the needs of existing Sunrise customers only until accounts are converted to Synovus Bank systems.
At that time, customers will be able to bank with any of Synovus' existing, locally-branded bank locations in their markets. Beginning May 13, depositors of Sunrise Bank automatically became depositors of Synovus Bank.
