May 13, 2013 (DMASIA via COMTEX) -- Taiwanese communications carrier Chunghwa Telecom and IBM have collaborated to introduce Smart PaaS (platform as a service). The service targets small to medium sized independent software vendors and allows them to develop and market SaaS (software as a service), mainly for the tourism, healthcare, retail, and education sectors, The Digitimes writes. Interested software vendors are invited to submit proposals to IBM and Chunghwa. IBM will offer consulting services to selected independent software vendors to help them establish business models and an environment for software development, as well as development tools and testing services. Furthermore, Chunghwa will help the selected independent software vendors to market their products through hiCloud Mall, its platform for cloud computing services. CHT and IBM Taiwan will share a percentage of the vendor's sales revenues.
