Tale of the Tape

Hewlett-Packard Company (HPQ - Analyst Report) was a big mover last session, as the company saw its shares rise over 6% on the day. The move came on solid volume too with far more shares changing hands than in a normal session. This breaks the recent trend of the company, as the stock is now trading above the volatile price range of $31.58 to $33.28 in the past one-month time frame.

The company has seen a mixed track record when it comes to estimate revision of four increases and three decreases over the past 30 days, while the Zacks Consensus Estimate has not been in a trend either. Friday’s jump is encouraging though, so make sure to keep a close watch on this firm in the near future.

Hewlett-Packard currently has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) while its Earnings ESP is positive.

However, some better-ranked stocks in the computer and technology sector include Alliance Fiber Optic Products Inc. (AFOP - Snapshot Report), Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (AMCC - Analyst Report) and ARRIS Group, Inc. (ARRS - Analyst Report). All of these sport a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy).
