Time Warner Cable Inc. (TWC - Analyst Report), a major cable multi service operator (MSO) in the U.S., is now offering NBC Universal’s Sports, News and Entertainment Programming to its video customers through its TV Everywhere application.
Time Warner Cable customers can watch live and on-demand content from NBC Universal’s suite of networks such as USA Network, Bravo, Oxygen, CNBC, Syfy, Telemundo, MSNBC, mun2, Golf Channel and NBC Sports Network. Apart from these, they can also access local NBC and Telemundo-owned broadcast stations. Notably, Time Warner cable customers already have anytime, anywhere access to NBC Universal’s Sprout, E! and Esquire Network. These services will also be available to Bright House Networks customers.
Moreover, customers will be able to enjoy NBC Sports Live Extra and Golf Live Extra services through applications on iOS and Android devices as well as online, within a couple of days. Availability of the remaining broadcast and cable network services will be opened for legitimate Time Warner cable customers effective Sep 2014.
Apart from improving quality of services offered, we believe such initiatives will help the company augment average revenue per user and also reduce churn rate. In the second quarter, average monthly revenue per user (ARPU) rose 1.7% to $106.98. Also residential high-speed data ARPU increased 9.7% to $46.92.
