Wachovia Loses Almost $24 Billion in Q3
Wachovia Corp. (WB) said on Wednesday it incurred a loss of $24 billion in its third quarter. The company had met a goodwill impairment charge of almost $18.7 billion, which impacted the earnings report. Excluding the impairment charge, the company lost about $4.8 billion. Wachovia also stated that its acquisition by Wells Fargo is expected to close in the fourth quarter.
WB now expects to lose about $26.1 billion in its loan portfolio.
Shares are down by more than 3% this afternoon.
