Cooper Tire (CTB - Analyst Report) specializes in the manufacturing and marketing of automotive products. The company's strategy of outsourcing production to low-cost countries and other cost-reduction measures are some of the positive factors associated with the stock.

A challenging North American industry environment and lower shipments continue to take their toll on Cooper's results. The company anticipates raw material, energy, and transportation costs will remain elevated throughout 2008. In the third quarter of 2008, raw material costs increased 40% on a y-o-y basis. Moreover, Cooper Tire operates in a very competitive industry with 15% market share of light vehicle replacement tire sales in the U.S.

We rate the stock a Hold with a six-month target price of $5.00.
