Threadneedle European Equity A (AXEAX) seeks capital appreciation. This non-diversified mutual fund primarily invests in equity securities of European companies with growth potential.
Although the fund emphasizes investments in developed countries, it may also invest in equity securities of companies located in developing or emerging markets. AXEAX normally has exposure to foreign currencies. It has allocated 87.75% of its total assets in foreign stock and 9.95% in large-growth equities.
AXEAX was incepted in June 2000 and Rob Jones has been the lead manager at the fund since January 2003. Nestle, Roche Holding AG and Vodafone Group Plc are among some key holdings of the fund.
Eastern European Equity A (VEEEX) invests at least 80% of assets in equity securities of companies located in Eastern Europe or those that have significant presence in countries which are generally considered to comprise Eastern Europe. It invests in the portfolio business of at least three different countries.
The fund normally invests in equity securities, such as common stocks and securities that are convertible into common stock. As of September 2008, its portfolio turnover was 137.76%. The fund distributes dividends and capital gains annually.
Pascal Curtet has been the lead manager since August 2008. Curtet began his career in 1991 as a credit analyst at UBS. VEEEX outstripped 4.53% of its peers in terms of total return in 2008. The Zacks#1 Rank ("strong buy") fund consists of holdings like Ucp Chemicals AG, Turk Telekomunikasyon and NK Rosneft' OAO.
Pioneer Europe Select Equity A (PERAX) seeks capital growth. It invests at least 80% of its assets in equity securities of European issuers.
The fund generally focuses on mid and large-capitalization European companies that exhibit strong growth prospects and are considered leaders in their sector or industry. It has allocated 57.49% of its assets in foreign stock, 26.52% in high yield bonds and 10.26% in large-growth equities.
Unit holders have to make a minimum initial investment of $1,000 to enter this Zacks#1 Rank ("strong buy") fund. Andrew Arbuthnott has been the lead manager since January 2006. Siemens, Roche Holding Ltd and National Grid Plc are among PERAX's top holdings.
