Van Eck Intl Investors Gold A (INIVX) was incepted in February 1956 and seeks long-term capital appreciation by investing in common stocks of gold-mining companies.
The fund may take current income into consideration when choosing investments. It is non-diversified. As of December 2008, its turnover ratio was 18%.
Randgold Resources Ltd. (GOLD), Agnico-Eagle Mines (AEM) and Goldcorp Inc. (G) are among the fund's top holdings.
AIM Gold & Precious Metals A (IGDAX) seeks growth of capital by investing in companies involved in exploring, mining, processing or investing in gold, gold bullion, and other precious metals.
IGDAX offers dividends and capital gains, if any, annually. The fund has been managed by Andrew Lees since January 2008. The fund has topped its benchmark index in terms of annual returns in the 1-, 3-, and 5-year periods.
Its top holdings include Newmont Mining Corp. (NEM), Franco-Nevada Corp. (FNV) and Barrick Gold Corp. (ABX).
RiverSource Precious Metals & Mining A (INPMX) was incepted in April 1985 and seeks to provide shareholders with long-term growth of capital. The fund invests primarily in the stocks of companies engaged in the precious metals or mining industries. It is non-diversified.
The fund invests at least 50% of its net assets outside the U.S, offering significant foreign market exposure. Unit holders have to make a minimum initial investment of $2,000 to enter this Zacks#1 Rank ("Strong Buy") fund.
The fund's key holdings include Anglogold Ashanti Ltd. (AU), Newmont Mining Corp. (NEM) and Yamana Gold Inc. (YRI).
