Biogen Idec Inc. (BIIB) swelled almost 3% today on low volume of 1.5 million shares, versus the average of about 2.4 million.

The company earned $1.05 per share in its first quarter, which was 5% better than the average forecast.

In each of the last 4 quarters, this Zacks #2 Rank ("Buy") company surpassed analysts’ expectations by an average of 6.2%.
