Ameristar Casinos Inc. (ASCA) jumped nearly 4% today on a recent analyst upgrade. The casino operator is trading on heavy volume of 1.2 million, against the average of 752,439.

In its first quarter, Ameristar Casinos earned 52 cents per share, which bested analysts' expectations by 57.6%.

The consensus estimate for 2009 is currently $1.54 per share, which increased 2 cents over the past month.
