Jun 26: Personal Income up 1.4%

Personal Income in May increased by 1.4%, $167.1 billion, much more than the expected 0.4% increase at an annual rate, after increasing by 0.7% in April.  Personal Consumption Expenditures increased by 0.3%, by $15.1 billion, and was unchanged in April.  Net of taxes, Disposable Personal Income grew by 1.6% ($178.1 billion).  The increase in DPI reflect increased government social benefit payments associated with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009
