3 Solid Investments

Dreyfus Emerging Asia A (DEAAX) was incepted in December 2007 and seeks long-term capital appreciation.

The fund mainly invests in stocks of companies that are located or principally traded in Asian emerging market countries or are tied economically to those markets. At times, it may invest a substantial portion of its assets in a single developing Asian country.

Unit holders need to make a minimum initial investment of $1,000 to enter the Zacks#1 Rank ("Strong Buy") fund. It distributes dividends and capital gains, if any, annually.

Matthews Asia Pacific (MPACX) seeks long-term capital appreciation by investing in common and preferred stocks of companies located in the Asia Pacific region.

The fund may also invest in the convertible securities, of any duration or quality, of Asia Pacific companies. As of December 2008, its portfolio turnover was 37.10%.

Taizo Ishida has been the lead manager at the fund since January 2007. The fund has topped the total returns of its benchmark index in the last 1-, 3- and 5-year periods.

Ivy International Core Equity A (IVIAX) seeks long-term capital growth with current income as a secondary objective. It invests in at least 80% of assets in equity securities of cash-generating, well-managed and reasonably valued companies that should yield above-average growth.

The fund may engage in foreign currency exchange transactions and forward foreign currency contracts. It primarily invests in companies that are traded in Europe and Asia/Pacific markets but can also venture in comparatively undeveloped economies.

Nestle, Total SA and Roche Holding AG are among top holdings at the fund.
