Tata Motors Limited reported an 8% increase in total sales of its commercial and passenger vehicles, including exports, to 44,276 units in Jun 2016 from 40,869 units in Jun 2015. Cumulative sales from Apr through Jun 2016 were 123,729 units, up 6% from the prior-year period.

The year-over-year improvement in June sales was driven by higher passenger car sales, commercial vehicle sales and exports. The automaker’s domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles totaled 38,673 units in the month under review, 8% higher than the year-ago level.

In the passenger vehicles business, Tata Motors’ domestic sales for Jun 2016 surged 22% to 12,509 vehicles from 10,281 vehicles in Jun 2015.

In the commercial vehicles business, Tata Motors’ sales in the domestic market went up 2% to 26,164 vehicles in Jun 2016. Sales in the Light Commercial Vehicle business increased 14% to 16,017 vehicles, while Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle (M&HCV) sales fell 11% to 10,147 vehicles.

Tata Motors’ export sales for the month of June rose 11% to 5,603 vehicles from 5,046 vehicles sold a year ago.
