Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. recently received a contract from the Western Australia Public Transport Authority (“PTA”). The company has been designated as the client-side technical advisor for the entity’s Forrestfield Airport Rail Link. Details of the important rail sector deal have been kept under wraps.
The project involves construction of roughly 8.5 kilometers of underground rail through twin bored tunnels. The tunnels link the Perth airport as well as the eastern foothill suburbs to an existing passenger rail line above the ground. The infrastructure project, which is presently the largest in Western Australia, entails the construction of a new above and below ground station.
Jacobs would provide a multi-disciplinary environmental and engineering team to PTA. The team would review construction documents and design of the project. Jacobs would serve as the discipline lead for the project’s rail and building services and will be assisted by consultants like Golder & Associates and B,G&E.
