The Winners and Losers of the Trump RNC

Read MoreHide Full Article

I don’t care if you’re Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, or Rastafarian, everybody is going to win leading up to November. The sheer entertainment value is spectacular from both sides. We’ve got the Democrats next week but first up, the Donald’s Republican National Convention from the mistake by the lake, Cleveland, Ohio. Who are the real winners and losers thus far?

Big winner, World Wrestling Entertainment . Did you see that opening? Where do you think the Donald learned that sort of showmanship? I thought we were gonna get a Stone Cold Stunner last night. Or at least an awesome John Cena cameo. Instead we got Antonio Sabato Jr. But hey, how great is the first Presidential Debate going to be when the Donald reaches into his bag of tricks and busts this out on Hillary?

Big loser, bank stocks like JPMorgan Chase (JPM - Free Report)  and Bank of America (BAC - Free Report) . The GOP platform will include language advocating for a return of Glass-Steagall, which created barriers between what big banks can do. The law was repealed under President Clinton and some argue was a major reason for the onset of the Great Recession. It would essentially break up big banks from their investment arms. So JP Morgan would have to leave Chase and Bank of America would lose Merrill Lynch.

Hey, can you people quit giving Melania guff for biting a solid paragraph from Michelle Obama’s 2008 speech? Imagine standing in front of 18,000 people and giving a speech in your fifth language. Yes, she speaks Slovenian, English, French, Serbian and German. And she got a degree in speech writing from Trump University. Rumor has it that Milli Vanilli helped her fill in some details.

If you want to brush up on your German or learn how to write speeches, it’s a win for University of Phoenix parent company Apollo Education . Apollo is a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy) but is being taken private by a consortium of investors that include Apollo Global Management (APO - Free Report) , for $9.50 in cash.

I’m excited for November but even more hyped up for the future. In 2020 we’ll have Kanye West running. Soon thereafter, President Macho Camacho.
