Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI Quick QuoteADI - Free Report) has reportedly acquired the Cyber Security Solutions (CSS) business of Sypris Electronics LLC in an all cash deal worth $42 million. 

 

 

This acquisition is expected to boost Analog Devices’ capabilities in the field of secure radio communications that has its application in the aerospace and defense sectors. Additionally, this deal will enable Analog Devices to ramp up its portfolio of system hardware and cryptographic technologies based on software. Moreover, the deal brings with it cybersecurity software and related services to Analog Devices. 

 

As part of the deal, Analog will also gain access to the intellectual property rights as well as the “know-how” on specific products of the cybersecurity division. Furthermore, it will also get authentication identities; manage keys, and secure communications equipment and encryption technologies for government agencies as well as allies in other countries. 

 

Analog expects to significantly improve its cybersecurity capabilities with this acquisition.  

 

 

As more and more devices are being brought under the canopy of interconnectivity, or in other words Internet of Things (IoT), which enables them to communicate with one another, security has become a key consideration. We note that the recent acquisition will enable Analog Devices to implement IoT in a secure way.
