Zuckerberg's Home AI Advances Facebook's Technology

Hey everybody Dave Bartosiak with Trending Stocks at Zacks.com. Alexa, Siri, Cortana and now this. Whatever it is Zuckerberg is calling his personal home AI system. Yesterday he updated an audience in Rome about his personal project this year. He had Facebook engineers work on a computerized domestic assistant as his personal challenge. The AI controls his AC, lighting, opens his security gate, and can even make him toast. Like Rick Moranis in “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.”

Obviously this is experimental technology for the tech titan to play with at home. But it certainly implies that Facebook is hard at work developing its own sort of AI. Doesn’t come as a surprise though as Facebook has been committed to advancing the field of machine intelligence for several years now. The features of his personal project draw parallels to Jarvis from Iron Man. I’m a little more old school with it and I always think of Kit from nightrider. You da man Hoff!

It seems like an extension of popular, elementary AIs we’ve seen from other companies. I can say, “Okay Google (GOOGL - Free Report) , text Mom, Hey what’s for dinner at your house, I’m coming over?” You can ask Amazon’s (AMZN - Free Report) Alexa to order you 6 lbs of Slim Jims and they’ll be at your door within 2 hours in some cities. And Microsoft’s (MSFT - Free Report) Cortana…is terrible. I’m sorry, I was excited to mess around with Cortana in Windows 10 but anytime I try to get her to do something all she does is run a Bing search for a hacked apart, Mad Gab version of what I asked. I’m pretty sure Cortana is just another name for that stupid paperclip from Microsoft Office back in the day. Sorry paperclip but you’re as useless as a paperclip on a computer monitor. At least Siri is witty. When I ask her what she’s wearing she describes her case. And she cleverly rejects my romantic advances, like real women do. I’m not impressed by any of this. My Mom had this technology 25 years ago. All she did was say, “DAVID!” and made me do it.

Facebook has been working on the M assistant. It’s more of a chat bot with voice recognition that’s part of its Messenger. M is still in its very early stages. I bet when Zuck reveals more details on his personal home AI system next month that he comments more on M as well.

Shares of Facebook are clocking in at a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy). A big reason why is eight analysts have increased their earnings estimates for the current quarter, current year and next year. The bullish sentiment has pushed up our Zacks Consensus Estimate from $2.80 to $3.14 for the current year.

Every time you share this video, the Hoff does an epic burnout. Chime in the comment section below. Subscribe to the YouTube channel, Twitter @bartosiastics, and come back here for all the Trending Stocks with Zacks.com, I’m Dave Bartosiak.
