The world’s largest company dedicated to industrial automation and information, Rockwell Automation, Inc. (ROK - Free Report) recently acquired Alpharetta, GA-based Automation Control Products (“ACP”). It will be integrated into Rockwell’s Architecture and Software division and expand its offerings in The Connected Enterprise. It is the company’s endeavor to connect information from the plant floor to the rest of the enterprise. Rockwell Automation’s share price gained 1.97% on the announcement.

Reasons to Acquire ACP

ACP is a leader in its own right in the automation industry. It provides full-featured industrial thin client management and location-based mobility software. Operating with less than 30 employees, its solutions are used by more than 1,000 customers across 3,000 locations globally across 30 countries. ACP boasts a customer base of nearly 30 of the top 100 global manufacturers.

ACP’s two core products, ThinManager and Relevance, provide manufacturing and industrial leaders with visual display and software solutions. ThinManager centralizes the management and visualization of content to every aspect of a modern manufacturing operation, from the control room to the end user. It streamlines workflows and allows customers to cut down hardware operation and maintenance costs.

Relevance extends the ThinManager functionality through proprietary location-based technology, enabling users secure mobile access to content and applications from anywhere. Collectively, they help manage information and streamline workflows for a more connected manufacturing environment.
