• BHP Billiton (NYSE:BHP - Analyst Report) reported a full-year profit of $5.9 billion from $15.39 billion and revenues fell 16% to $50.2 billion, reflecting a slump in commodity prices
• Liz Claiborne (NYSE:LIZ - Snapshot Report) reported second quarter earnings of 48 cents a share, on revenues of $684 million versus Zacks estimates of $715 million and off 29% from a year ago
• JA SOLAR (JASO) posted an 18 cent per share loss, versus Zacks estimates of a 6 penny loss as revenues fell 51% to $88 million versus Zacks estimates of $74 million
• TRW Automotive (NYSE:TRW - Analyst Report) said an offering of 14 million shares of its common stock was priced at $17.50 each
• Apollo Investments (NASDAQ:AINV - Snapshot Report) announced plans to offer 15 million common shares
• Hillenbrand (NYSE:HI - Snapshot Report) noted a cost-conscious consumer at work in funeral planning, as fully diluted results dropped 1 cent to 41 cents. The firm maintained guidance at the lower end of its previous range.
• Baird raised its price target for JP Morgan (NYSE:JPM - Analyst Report) to $50 from $42, with the possibility of a dividend increase and share buyback
• Among Goldman Sachs' (NYSE:GS - Analyst Report) ratings changes:
• Louisiana-Pacific (NYSE:LPX - Snapshot Report) shares were downgraded to "neutral"
• Owens-Illinois (NYSE:OI - Analyst Report) shares were removed from its Conviction Buy List
• International Paper (NYSE:IP - Analyst Report) and Piper Jaffray (NYSE:PJC - Snapshot Report) were added to its Conviction Buy List
