Third Avenue Real Estate Value (TAREX) seeks long-term capital appreciation. The fund is non-diversified.
The fund follows a bottom-up approach to create a portfolio based on individual securities, rather than markets, that have the potential to create value for shareholders over the long term. It is not restricted by market capitalization or geography.
Michael Winer has managed the fund since its inception in September 1998. The fund has topped total returns of its benchmark index in the last 1-and 3-year periods.
Cohen & Steers Institutional Global Realty (GRSIX) seeks total return through investment in global real estate equity securities. In pursuing total return, the investment targets both capital appreciation and current income.
The fund invests at least 80%, and normally substantially all, of its assets in common stocks and other equity securities issued by U.S. and non-U.S. real estate companies. It diversifies its assets by region and countries throughout the world.
The fund’s top holdings include Westfield Group (WDC - Analyst Report), Simon Property Group Inc. (SPG - Analyst Report) and Mitsubishi Estate.
Dreyfus Global Real Estate A (DRLAX) was incepted in December 2006. The investment seeks to maximize total return consisting of capital appreciation and current income.
The fund’s equity investments may include common stocks, preferred stocks, convertible securities, warrants, equity interests in foreign investment funds or trusts, depositary receipts and other equity investments. As of March 2009, its [portfolio turnover was 79%.
Unit holders have to make a minimum initial investment of $1,000 to enter this Zacks#1 Rank (“Strong Buy) fund. It distributes dividends and capital gains, if any, annually.
