Today we are featuring top-performing “Health" equity mutual funds, which primarily invest in equity securities of health care and related companies.

Fidelity Select Medical Equipment & Systems (FSMEX) seeks capital appreciation. The fund is non-diversified.

The fund invests in common stocks of firms that are engaged in research, development, manufacture, distribution, supply or sale of medical equipment and devices and related technologies. It may invest in securities of foreign issuers or a significant percentage of assets in a single issuer.

The fund’s key holdings include Medtronic Inc. (MDT - Analyst Report), Baxter International Inc. (BAX - Analyst Report) and Boston Scientific Inc. (BSX - Analyst Report).

Evergreen Health Care A (EHABX) was incepted in December 1999. The investment seeks long-term capital growth.

The fund normally invests at least 80% of its assets in equity securities of healthcare companies. It may invest in securities of relatively well known and large companies as well as small- and medium-sized companies.

Robert C. Junkin has been lead manager at the fund since March 2007. It has an expense ratio of 1.84%.

Eaton Vance Worldwide Health Sciences A (ETHSX) seeks long-term capital growth by investing in reasonably priced equity securities of healthcare companies.

The fund invests in companies that are expected to grow in value over time and have the potential to outperform market. It normally invests in issuers located in at least three different countries and may also invest in fixed-income securities of health sciences firms.

Shareholders have to make a minimum initial investment of $1,000 to enter this Zacks#1 Rank (“Strong Buy”) fund. It offers dividends and capital gains, if any, annually.
