The Best Big Bank Earnings Charts

Read MoreHide Full Article

Earnings season is just getting started this week and the big banks will lead it off.

But not all of them are created equal.

Tracey dug through all of the charts to find only the best.

Despite what you might think, it’s not easy for companies to beat nearly every quarter. Just check out Bank of America’s earnings surprise chart and you’ll see.

But these 3 big banks take the earnings prize this week:

  1. Wells Fargo (WFC - Free Report) has missed just twice in the last 5 years, giving it one of the best track records of the large banks. Of course, the beat or the miss isn’t the entire story with the banks. There are other considerations driving them.
  2. PNC Financial (PNC - Free Report) is one of the larger regional banks. It has missed only 2 times in the last 5 years and one of those was all the way back in 2012. Shares have soared. Is the rally justified?
  3. First Republic Bank isn’t as well-known as some other large banks. Headquartered in San Francisco, it handles banking of high net worth individuals. It has missed 4 times in the last 5 years but has a solid streak over the last 3 years.
