United Continental (UAL) Beats Q4 Earnings and Revenue Estimates

United Continental (UAL - Free Report) just released its fourth-quarter fiscal 2016 earnings results, posting earnings of $1.78 per share and revenue of $9.1 billion. 

UAL was down 2.07% to $72.21 in after-hours trading shortly after its earnings report was released.

Beat earnings estimates. The company posted earnings of $1.78 per share, beating our Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.65 per share. This number excludes 52 cents from non-recurring items.

Beat revenue estimates. The company saw revenue figures of $9.1 billion, surpassing our estimate of $9.03 billion and

UAL ended Q4 in $5.8 billion in unrestricted liquidity while earning $658 million of operating cash flow. With capital expenditures being $880 million, UAL continued to invest in its business.

Consolidated passenger revenue per available mile (PRASM) decreased in Q4 by 1.6% and consolidated yield decreased by 1.2% compared to the fourth quarter of 2015.

“Our fourth quarter financial and operating performance capped an outstanding year for United Airlines,” said Oscar Munoz, chief executive officer of United Airlines.
