U.S. telecom behemoth AT&T Inc. (T - Free Report) has launched two new prepaid GoPhone plans, one with unlimited data and another with 6GB data. AT&T’s GoPhone customers can avail the unlimited data for $60 a month and the 6GB broadband data for $40 a month after they sign up for AutoPay. The Unlimited GoPhone offering comes in the form of an annual contract-free or credit free.
After signing up, AT&T GoPhone Unlimited customers can also enjoy unlimited talk, text and data, with a maximum speed of 3Mbps and streaming standard definition (about 480p) video at a maximum speed of 1.5Mbps. However, AT&T will slow down the data when one completes 22GB data during periods of network congestion.
AT&T’s GoPhone Unlimited plan also allows unlimited usage of data, calling and texting in and between the U.S., Mexico and Canada without worrying about additional roaming charges. All AT&T GoPhone monthly plans come with Multi-Line discounts. Multi-line is ideal for families and small businesses seeking flexibility to add or remove lines without a penalty. Moreover, with Multi-Line discounts, the addition of more lines to their AT&T GoPhone account, will help customers save up to $600 every year per family.
Recent Postpaid Unlimited Data Plan War
Pertaining to the recent unlimited data plan war, we saw the four major wireless telecommunications companies – AT&T, Sprint Corp. (S - Free Report) , T-Mobile US (TMUS - Free Report) and Verizon communications Inc. (VZ - Free Report) participating. On comparing, we found that Sprint’s unlimited data plan starting at $50 per months was cheaper than AT&T’s $100 per month plan, T-Mobile US’ unlimited plan starts at $70 per month for a single lineand Verizon Communications’ is for$80 a month.
Meanwhile, Sprint has promoted its unlimited plans by offering DISH Network Corp.’s Internet TV service- Sling TV service free of cost if customers add four or more lines on the former’s Unlimited Freedom plan. This offer is currently available to new and existing Sprint customers in Atlanta and Chicago.
We look forward to seeing which among these four carriers’ unlimited offerings gain popularity among customers and succeeds in drawing the maximum number of wireless subscribers.
