UDR Hikes Quarterly Dividend by 5% on a Sequential Basis

Much to the delight of its shareholders, UDR, Inc. (UDR - Free Report) announced its first-quarter 2017 common stock dividend of 31 cents per share, marking an increase of 5% from that of the prior payment. The increased dividend will be paid on May 1, 2017 to shareholders on record as of Apr 10, 2017.

UDR is one of the most favorably positioned multifamily apartment real estate investment trusts (REITs) in the U.S. that owns, operates, acquires, develops and renovates apartment communities in high barrier-to-entry markets in the nation. In fourth-quarter 2016, the company paid a dividend of 29.5 cents per share.

Previously, the company had raised its dividend by 6.1% to 29.5 cents per share in first-quarter 2016.  

The dividend will be the 178th consecutive quarterly dividend paid by the company on its common stock. UDR also announced annualized common dividend of $1.24 per share for the year 2017.

Currently, UDR carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).

Shares of UDR underperformed the Zacks categorized REIT and Equity Trust - Residential industry, in the last three months. During this time, shares of the company increased 2.3%, whereas the industry gained 4.6%.

In the last 30 days, CoreSite Realty’s FFO per share for first-quarter 2017 remained unchanged at $1.07.

CorEnergy Infrastructure Trust’s first-quarter 2017 FFO per share estimates moved up 6.5% to $1.14, in the last 30 days.

Note: FFO, a widely used metric to gauge the performance of REITs, is obtained after adding depreciation and amortization and other non-cash expenses to net income. All EPS numbers presented in this write up represent FFO per share.
