WPP's Unit Makes 3 New Appointments to Augment Services

Burson-Marsteller, part of Young & Rubicam Group, a subsidiary of WPP plc. recently announced three new appointments.

Geoffrey Mogilner, Neil Barman and Kona Barrasso have joined the firm as the Managing Director, Senior Director and Senior Director, respectively, of its Corporate and Financial Practice. They will directly report to Alan Sexton, Chair, U.S. Corporate and Financial Practice and Market Leader, NY.

Established in 1953, Burson-Marsteller is a leading global public relations and communications firm. It has over 77 offices and 85 affiliate offices, operating in 110 countries across six continents.

Mogilner, Barman and Barrasso have deep expertise in three key areas, namely Integrated financial communications, change management and employee engagement, and corporate and executive positioning. The company expects to see growing client demand in these areas in 2017 and beyond.

Mogilner brings over 20 years of experience in strategic communications, building global brands and counseling corporations.  He will head the company’s financial communications team within its Corporate Practice. Prior to joining Burson-Marsteller, Mogilner was Senior Director, Global External Communications at Baxalta. He led external communications through the creation of a $6 billion global biopharmaceutical enterprise.

Barman has more than 14 years of experience in the areas of transformational change, strategic communications, learning and development, technology adoption and management consulting. Previously, Barman worked at Deloitte Consulting where he was the head of a transformation and change program for one of the world's largest life insurers.

With over 14 years of experience in building brands across traditional and digital platforms, Barrasso earlier served as Director of External Communications for global management consultancy A.T. Kearney. Prior to A.T. Kearney, she served Makovsky Integrated Communications for 11 years where she worked with professional services and technology companies to develop and execute global brand revitalization efforts and corporate communications strategies.

The company expects to incorporate their expertise with its evidence-based approach, comprehensive research and proprietary tools to deliver outstanding results and provide its clients better services.

On Feb 1, 2017, Kyle Farnham joined the company as Chair, U.S. Consumer and Brand Marketing Practice. The company is focused on strengthening its management team in order to enhance its performance and boost revenues.

WPP, the parent company of Burson-Marsteller, underperformed the Zacks categorized Advertising and Marketing industry with an average loss of 8.3% compared with 4.2% decline for the latter, over the last 30 days.
