Synopsys Inc. (SNPS - Analyst Report) continues to be the favorite EDA partner for many IC solutions providers and electronic appliance companies. Recently, the company has expanded its business agreement with Sunplus Technology Co. Ltd. As per the new multi-year agreement, Sunplus will be using Synopsys’ Galaxy Implementation and Discovery Verification platform for their chip design and has also extended the use of Synopsys DesignWare IP.

Sunplus is a player in the home entertainment applications market and Synopsys, through its technical know-how and enhanced design solutions, will be able to meet the increasing demand and design complexity of the company. Sunplus serves in a dynamic consumer market where change is a constant phenomenon. We believe Synopsys will be able to offer the design solution, which will help Sunplus address this dynamic consumer market.

Synopsys is benefiting from the increasing complexity of semiconductors and more challenging shrink cycles. The company is gaining traction through new products, acquisitions and new EDA partnerships, which bode well for growth in 2009. Sunplus will use several design and IP solution products offered by Synopsys. Despite macro economic concerns, Synopsis posted better-than-expected third quarter 2009 results.

In the current economic scenario, as customers are ensuring an uninterrupted supply of products, services and focusing on cost efficiencies, many have selected Synopsys as their primary EDA partner. This is borne out by further extension of the company’s relationship with different companies. The stability of shared visions created in these kinds of deep vendor−customer relationships will be critical in driving innovation and technology roadmaps for the company in future.
