Viacom (VIAB) Beats on Q2 Earnings

Viacom Inc. a leading entertainment content company that operates primarily in the U.S. and Europe. Viacomhas a healthy track record with respect to earnings. The company has delivered positive earnings surprises in three of the last four quarters, with an average beat of 7.96%.

Earnings: Viacom’s second quarter fiscal 2017 earnings (on an adjusted basis) of 79 cents per share beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 59 cents. Earnings increased 3.95% on a year-over-year basis.

Revenue: Viacom reported revenues of $3,256 million which surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $3,056.1 million. Revenues increased 8% on a year-over-year basis.

Key Stats to Note: Quarterly adjusted operating income increased 4% year over year. Revenues in the Media Networks segment and Filmed Entertainment segment increased 1% and 37% respectively.
