Today’s Dutram Report features two key members of the O’Shares Investments team, including Kevin O’Leary (of Shark Tank fame) and Connor O’Brien. In this wide-ranging interview, we discuss why they started an ETF company, the current status of the investing world, and even some tips for those thinking about facing off against Kevin O’Leary on the hit TV show Shark Tank.

Their Process

For the O’Shares investing philosophy, it largely centers on dividends, diversification, and low volatility. The team at O’Shares believes this combination is a great path to long term wealth creation, and that it is a prudent strategy for when markets face sluggish conditions.

We also talk about their flagship product, the O’Shares FTSE U.S. Quality Dividend ETF (OUSA - Free Report) which has managed to amass over $380 million in assets despite making its debut just under two years ago. Top holdings include several of the usual suspects, such as Apple (AAPL - Free Report) at about 5% of the total, but Johnson & Johnson (JNJ - Free Report) and Exxon Mobil (XOM - Free Report) round out the top three, underscoring the fund’s low volatility focus.

Their Lineup

Beyond this flagship product, we also discuss their approach to international investing, and why this is an often-overlooked area for investors. In particular, we take a closer look at the European market with their OEUH product, but the company also has an Asia-Pacific version in OASIA.  However, the team at O’Shares also discusses the importance of considering currency hedging, as the company has a few products in that area as well, including OAPH and OEUH.

We also take a look at what investors can expect from O’Shares in the future, as well as some more insights into the development of their ETF lineup and what is next for the O’Shares team in the future too.

Shark Tank & Bottom Line

Finally, I also briefly discuss the hit show Shark Tank with Kevin O’Leary, someone you might know better as Mr. Wonderful. We talk about some key tips for budding entrepreneurs out there, and what will happen to you if you come on the show and do not know your numbers (it isn’t good!). So, make sure to check that out for some great Shark Tank tips too!
