5 Retail Stocks with the Best Earnings Charts

Read MoreHide Full Article

Earnings season isn’t over yet. There are still several hundred companies reporting this week, including a handful of big technology names and a bunch of retailers.

The retail sector has been written off as being “terrible” but this was mostly based on the performance of the department store chains and apparel retailers. But retail encompasses a lot of different products.

This week, we’ll get earnings from some of the retailers that have the best earnings surprise track records on the Street.

It’s not easy to beat every quarter, or nearly every quarter, for five years, but these companies have all been doing it and in very tough industry conditions.

Some of them have hot charts. Some do not.

But if you’re playing the earnings miss or beat, these are definitely the retailers you’re going to want to tune into this week.

5 Retailers with the Best Earnings Charts

1.    Home Depot (HD - Free Report) has one of the best charts on the Street. It hasn’t missed in over 5 years and shares at all-time highs. Who said retail was “bad”?

2.    TJX Companies (TJX - Free Report) has missed only twice in the last 5 years. Shares have stalled recently, however. Can this quarter convince the skeptics?

3.    L Brands used to be one of the top specialty retailers but shares have slid. How bad is it at the mall?

4.    Ross Stores (ROST - Free Report) has missed only 2 times in the last 5 years. Shares went into 2017 at new highs but have slipped since. The off-price retailers have been strong. Will Ross keep delivering?

5.    Children’s Place (PLCE - Free Report) hasn’t missed in 5 years. Despite being in clothing, shares have busted out to new highs. It’s expected to produce double digit earnings growth this year but is it priced for perfection?
