Level 3 Communications (LVLT) Shares Touch a 52-Week High

Level 3 Communications, Inc. scaled a fresh 52-week high of $64.21 during yesterday’s trading session, before closing at a slightly lower value of $64.19.

In the last three months, shares of Level 3 Communications have increased 12.57%, against the Zacks categorized Comm Infrastructure industry’s decline by 7.54%.

Level 3 Communications offers a wide range of communications services over its broadband fiber optic network including IP-based services, broadband transport and infrastructure services, collocation, and patented soft switch managed modem and voice services.

The company stands to benefit from the ongoing trend of large enterprise customers shifting to IP and fiber-based network architecture. With growing demand for bandwidth for implementing converged IP-based networks, Level 3 Communications has some solid growth prospects.

In May 2017, CenturyLink Inc. and Level 3 Communications moved one step ahead in completing their proposed merger. The combined entity is likely to generate $975 million of annual cash synergies. The deal is anticipated to close in the third quarter of 2017, subject to customary regulatory approvals.

Apart from geographical network expansion, the company is enhancing its bandwidth capability and flexibility to enable customer MNCs to adjust bandwidth according to their requirements. By gradually expanding its footprint overseas, Level 3 Communications is likely to overtake domestic market leaders such as Orange (ORAN - Free Report) and BT Global Services, a division of BT Group plc. (BT) .

The company has launched its automated on-demand Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) with Adaptive Network Control Solutions, which is powered by Cisco Systems Inc.’s (CSCO - Free Report) Network Service Orchestrator. Level 3 Communications’ collaboration with Cisco Systems will enable the former to offer hybrid cloud connectivity, dynamic capacity with bandwidth of up to 300%, optimized data backup and real-time information on network performance and utilization.

Continuous deployment of IP-based bundled networks of voice, data, Internet, and video solutions is expected to favorably impact the company’s performance.
