Adtalem Chamberlain University Partners ATI Nursing Education

Read MoreHide Full Article

Global education provider Adtalem Global Education’s (ATGE - Free Report) Chamberlain College of Nursing recently inked a partnership with ATI Nursing Education (“ATI”) — a leading vendor of nursing education tools and resources.

With this partnership, Chamberlain University furthers its commitment of making substantial investments in student success and aims to aid students in becoming efficient professional nurses by passing NCLEX.

In fact, Chamberlain, being one of only 161 distinct institutions to have a complete partnership with ATI, can benefit from ATI’s model that has proven effective for nursing institutions across the country.

Thus, by integrating ATI products exclusively into its curriculum, Chamberlain University intends to help nursing students achieve superior academic outcome with increased emphasis on transformational teaching and learning techniques. In fact, ATI products and resources along with a customized service plan and a dedicated support team will be made fully accessible to Chamberlain faculty, students and administrators.

However, shares of Adtalem have widely underperformed its industry year to date. The company’s shares grew 13.8% as compared with the industry’s gain of 54.3%.

Adtalem’s net sales declined 1.8% year over year in fiscal 2017 due to weak enrollment trends at DeVry University (accounting for a major portion of Adtalem’s revenues), Carrington College as well as Medical and Veterinary schools.

Moreover, an improving employment scenario in the United States has lowered demand for academic programs. The lure of skilled jobs is compelling students to opt out of academic courses, which poses a major concern for Adtalem as well as Strayer Education, Inc. (STRA - Free Report) , Capella Education Company and American Public Education, Inc. (APEI - Free Report) .

Nevertheless, Adtalem’s health care and international institutions have shown significant improvement in revenues and profitability throughout fiscal 2013, fiscal 2014, fiscal 2015 and fiscal 2016. The trend continued in fiscal 2017 as well.

Particularly focusing on health care institutions we note that, Chamberlain new student enrollment remained solid in the fiscal fourth quarter and full-year 2017, improving 16.5% and 4%, respectively, from the year-ago level. Moreover, for fiscal 2018, the company expects mid-single new student enrollment growth at Chamberlain.

Notably, the Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasts that 3.2 million nurses will be needed by 2024, indicating an increase of 16% from the 2014 census.

Given the increasing roles nurses play in the healthcare industry, this new partnership with ATI should help Chamberlain University meeting the growing demand. This should also drive Zacks Ranked #3 (Hold) Adtalem’s top line. You can see  the complete list of today’s Zacks #1 Rank (Strong Buy) stocks here.
