Up first, the hosts discussed Amazon’s brand new tax bill from the European Union. In what has become a trend of Europe’s regulatory body targeting tech companies, Amazon has been ordered to pay $300 million in back taxes. According to the European Commission, Amazon illegally avoided taxes through a shell company in Luxembourg, which is considered a tax haven.

Next, Maddy and Ryan discussed Walmart’s acquisition of Parcel, an NYC-based startup focused on same-day and last-mile deliveries. The deal is the latest in a series of strategic moves by Walmart, all of which have seemed to focus on expanding its e-commerce operations and short-term delivery capabilities.
