A Better-than-Expected Profit: Income per share from continuing operation came in at 42 cents, higher than the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 38 cents. Improved activity and pricing in North America led to the outperformance.

Revenue Came in Higher than Expected: Halliburton posted revenues of $5,444 million, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $5,319.0 million.

Key Stats: Operating income from the Completion & Production segment was $525 million, significantly higher than the year-ago level of $24 million. The division also improved from previous quarter’s income of $397 million.

Halliburton’s Drilling & Evaluation unit profit improved from $151 million in the third quarter of 2016 to $180 million this year. The number was also above the $125 million earned in the June quarter.
