The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. (HIG) was founded in 1810 and is recognized as a renowned insurance company in the United States. Hartford Funds — a segment of Hartford Financial Services — had total assets of $115.3 billion under management as of Dec 31, 2017. The company claims that it manages more than 55 funds across a wide range of styles and asset classes.

Hartford Municipal Real Return A  primarily invests in tax-exempt obligations issued by states, territories, and possessions of the United States, and their political subdivisions, agencies and instrumentalities. A large portion of the tax-exempt obligations bought by the fund will be of “investment grade” quality. HTNAX seeks to offer income free from federal income tax. Hartford Municipal Real Return A has a one-year annualized return of 2.4%.

HTNAX has an expense ratio of 0.69% compared with the category average of 0.76%.

Hartford Small Company HLS Fund IA (HIASX - Free Report) primarily invests its assets in common stocks issued by small capitalization companies. The fund may also invest almost one-fifth of its assets in securities of non-U.S. issuers. Small capitalization companies are those whose market capitalization falls within the collective range of the Russell 2000 and S&P SmallCap 600 indices. HIASX seeks appreciation of capital. Hartford Small Company HLS Fund IA has returned 22.6% in a year.

Hartford Global Growth HLS Fund IA  seeks capital appreciation. HIALX invests heavily in common stocks issued by growth companies.
