Read MoreHide Full Article

Goodyear Tires & Rubber Company (GT - Free Report) displayed the recent advances made in its intelligent tire prototype at the 2018 Geneva International Motor Show. Along with the tire, the information system prototype comprises of cloud-based algorithms and sensors that will facilitate fleet operators to communicate in real-time via a mobile application.

With the rising popularity of shared mobility services, the management anticipates a significant rise in mileage driven by each vehicle with the help of new applications in coming years. Further, managing tire issues faced by the fleet operators are important for the business model as well as the customers.

Goodyear’s intelligent tire prototype informs about the optimal usage of tires for maximized uptime and also about cost-efficient mobility via constant connectivity along with real-time data sharing.

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company Price and Consensus

Sensors in the company’s intelligent tires offer real-time data in addition to information related to the vehicle and the third-party to proprietary algorithms. Further, these algorithms keep on updating information related to tire’s wear, pressure and temperature and share these data-driven diagnostics with fleet operators via the application. Based on the information, fleet operators will be able to identify possible service and tire-related issues before it actually occurs.

Earlier in September 2017, Goodyear announced that it is using its expertise for a fleet of Tesloop’s semi-autonomous electric vehicles in a bid to provide wireless sensors for car-tires to enhance overall tire management and to augment uptime for the fleet.

Except this, the company is also developing a new tire, enabled with electric drive technology, to cater requirements of electric vehicles.
