ADTRAN Leads Application-Level Traffic Generation Testing

Read MoreHide Full Article

ADTRAN, Inc. (ADTN - Free Report) recently announced that it is leading an initiative within the Broadband Forum to leverage application-level traffic generation for advanced broadband testing.

The initiative will benefit service providers, vendors and testing labs by allowing them to manage the increasingly complex subscriber traffic on the network. It is likely to have far-reaching positive effects on the whole industry.

ADTRAN’s domain experience is helping the industry’s transition to a more flexible, scalable and secure software-defined access network. The project is driven by shifting to network function virtualization-based systems, to create new requirement for a standardized approach.

The first project is expected to be completed in late 2018, followed by other projects in early 2019. The projects will deliver on the following principles — define model for the generation of test traffic at the application level, create a reference implementation for use in test cases in Open Broadband Labs and in other test environments and address high-speed Internet access for residential use.

Earlier, ADTRAN has also launched Mosaic Open Networking Alliance to foster the widespread development and industry adoption of Software Defined Networking and Network Function Virtualization solutions based on open standards. The Alliance includes two levels of engagement, the first of which comprises Collaboration Members committed to joint innovation, collaboration, insight and knowledge sharing. The second tier includes Integration Members, a community of partners who will integrate with or work within the Mosaic framework. This involves Technology Partners focused on delivering innovative programmable network functions and service partners delivering managed services, system integration and other network operation requirements.

ADTRAN continues to collaborate with its peers to introduce new products and services. Over the past three months, the stock has outperformed the industry with an average loss of 9.2% compared with a decline of 10.5% for the latter.
