Read MoreHide Full Article

Sprint Corporation (S - Free Report) has announced the launch of a new Point of Presence (PoP) in Johannesburg, South Africa. The strategic move further extends the company’s extensive global Wireline backbone network in one of its emerging markets.

CMC Networks, a Pan African wholesale data communications service provider, has partnered with Sprint in this venture, to enhance the latter’s footprint in the country. Over the years, CMC has collaborated with Sprint to extend its global Tier 1 network in 195 countries, serving multinational business and carrier customers.

PoP is essentially a set of switches, router, servers and other data communication devices present at an Internet Service Provider, which enables remote users to connect to the Internet.

Sprint is dedicated to provide top notch services to customers who require them within the country and internationally on a regular basis. With an exponential growth for data in the Middle East and Africa, CMC and Sprint used their existing relationship to jointly seize this opportunity. The new PoP will allow improved, more cost-effective, scalable and stronger connectivity experience to customers in South Africa and surrounding countries, including the Middle East.

Sprint seems to have its hands full with innovative endeavors and launches since the past few months. Sprint Magic Box, the world’s first wireless small-cell, recently secured two awards for innovation. The company also launched Magic Ball, Sprint IoT Factory and Unlimited 55+ Plan, in an attempt to stay ahead of its competitors. These continued actions have not only boosted its portfolio, but also improved its revenues. The tentative merger with T-Mobile US, Inc. (TMUS - Free Report) is expected to strengthen its portfolio further.

Price Performance

In the past three months, the stock has outperformed the industry with average loss of 1.5% compared with a decline of 6.8% for the latter.

Will You Make a Fortune on the Shift to Electric Cars?

Here's another stock idea to consider. Much like petroleum 150 years ago, lithium power may soon shake the world, creating millionaires and reshaping geo-politics. Soon electric vehicles (EVs) may be cheaper than gas guzzlers. Some are already reaching 265 miles on a single charge.

With battery prices plummeting and charging stations set to multiply, one company stands out as the #1 stock to buy according to Zacks research.

It's not the one you think.
