Real estate has weathered rough seas recently, but investments in this sector will continue to play a key role in a long-term portfolio strategy. With comparatively lower initial investment requirements and risk levels, real estate funds are a convenient way to invest in this sector. These funds either purchase or lease out property or hold securities backed by real estate. Investors with a long-term horizon would do well to consider them since they offer protection against inflation and bring stability to a portfolio.

Below we will share with you 5 top rated real estate funds. Each has earned a Zacks #1 Rank (Strong Buy) as we expect the fund to outperform its peers in the future. To view the Zacks Rank and past performance of all real estate funds, then click here.
