Just one day after FCC Chairman Ajit Pai said he had “serious concerns” about Tribune Media’s merger with Sinclair Broadcast Group (SBGI), the Chicago-based company fired back, saying it was “disappointed” with Pai’s proposal related to Sinclair’s divesture of certain TV stations.

Tribune shares added about 5% in early trading as the stock looks to recover from Monday’s sharp decline.

Meanwhile, IBM (IBM - Free Report) said it was suing Groupon for more than $150 million, claiming the e-commerce company infringed on four of its patents. Groupon responded quickly and effectively claimed that IBM was acting like a patent bully.

Still, a legal headache was not what Groupon need, and the already-struggling stock sunk about 1.4% lower in morning trading Tuesday.

Another major story this morning centered on Uber, with new reports indicating that the ride-sharing behemoth has been the focus of an investigation centered on gender disparities pertaining to hiring practices and pay.

Ryan recaps all of these stories and gives viewers his own take on the headlines during the first half of today’s show!

Later, he is joined by Zacks Strategist Dave Bartosiak to discuss Netflix and Amazon. Netflix shares are hoping to rebound after suffering steep losses on the back of its shocking subscriber growth miss, while Amazon has some serious questions to answer after its website crashed during Prime Day.

Ryan and Dave provide their perspectives on these stories. Make sure to check out the show to hear more!
