In a bid to deliver an ultra-portable laptop experience, Intel (INTC - Free Report) has introduced new 8th Gen Intel Core processors. The company expanded its U-series (previously named Whiskey Lake) and Y-series (named Amber Lake earlier) with new CPUs.
The U-series now comprises new i3-8145U, i5-8265U and i7-8565U processors. The company added m3-8100Y, i7-8500 and i5-8200Y among others to its Y-series CPUs.
The new CPUs for the first time will enable connectivity in light and thin 2 in 1s laptops. Further, the new processors will deliver enhanced mobile performance and improved battery life.

New U-series CPUs
The new U-series CPUs comprise up to eight threads and four cores apt for 2 in 1s and mainstream laptops. The new CPUs offer superior performance in a 15-watt envelope.
With a view to up the ante, the new U-series feature integrated Gigabit Wi-Fi connectivity. When combined with Intel’s LTE modem and Wireless-AC routers, users can avail faster connectivity, consequently enhancing downloading, streaming and sharing experience.
