Will the recent negative trend continue leading up to its next earnings release, or is Amerisafe due for a breakout? Before we dive into how investors and analysts have reacted as of late, let's take a quick look at its most recent earnings report in order to get a better handle on the important catalysts.

Amerisafe Q2 Earnings Top Estimates

Amerisafe reported second-quarter 2018 operating earnings per share of 92 cents, which exceeded the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 26%. The bottom line was also increased 12.2% year over year.

Total expenses came in at $74.5 million, up 9.9% from the year-ago quarter.

The uptick was driven by increased loss and loss adjustments incurred, and underwriting and other operating costs.
