Take Two’s (TTWO - Free Report) publisher 2K along with Aspyr Media announced the availability of Sid Meier's Civilization VI from Nov 16 on Nintendo Switch.

Sid Meier's Civilization VI developed by Firaxis Games was originally released in October 2016. The game, which was first released on PC, was later made available on Linux, Mac and iOS platforms.

The Switch version will include additional features and latest updates along with four new game scenarios based on historical events. The four packs include “the Vikings scenario pack, the Poland civilization and scenario pack, the Australia civilization and scenario pack and the Persia/Macedon civilization and scenario pack.”

Moreover, Sid Meier's Civilization VI: Rise and Fall, the first expansion pack, which was released on Feb 8, 2018, garnered positive feedback after Take Two added more features and updates to the game.

Notably, Civilization VI received The Game Awards’ best strategy game award in 2016 and Strategy/Simulation Game of the Year at the 20th D.I.C.E awards.

Take Two’s Expanding Portfolio: Key Catalyst

Take Two’s expanding game portfolio and partnerships is expected to drive top-line growth.

Recently, Take Two partnered with HB Studios to publish The Golf Club 2019 Featuring PGA TOUR. The deal provides a good opportunity for Take Two to cash in on the partnership as it is now the sole provider of the PGA TOUR golf simulation game, a space that was exclusive to Electronic Arts (EA - Free Report) .

Moreover, 2K recently announced the launch of NBA 2K19. Notably, NBA 2K18, which is the highest-selling sports title ever in the company’s history, sold more than 10 million units as of the last reported quarter. Moreover, NBA 2K Online remains the leading PC online sports game in China with over 37 million registered users.

Intensifying Competition to Hurt

However, Take Two is expected to face significant competition with big releases ahead, from Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Electronic Arts’ Battlefield V, which also features the new battle royale (BR) game mode.

Moreover, Activision is striking deals with the likes of Amazon (AMZN - Free Report) , Disney and Twitter to enhance the popularity of Overwatch League and boost its presence in the e-sports market. This remains a concern for Take Two.

Nevertheless, with the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 on Oct 26 and expected growth from NBA 2K, Take Two expects revenues for fiscal 2019 to increase 38%.

We believe that Take Two with its unique partnerships and release of popular games is expected to boost shareholder value.

Take Two currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). You can see the complete list of today’s Zacks #1 Rank (Strong Buy) stocks here.
